It's impossible to save a composite picture
Posted by: wimac | 10/22/2008 at 19:57
After 2 images loaded, rotate the iPhone counter-clockwise for PARALLEL stereo, or clockwise for CROSS-EYED stereo, then you can see composite stereo image.
And tap on the stereo screen, you can save in photo albums.
If you need more instructions, please tap info button ( right, top corner ).
Thank you.

I am an avid stereo photographer and have a vast collection of digital stereo images. I really like the idea of being able to view them on my iPhone so your ap is great but...
All of the images in my collection are single jpg files with the right and left images combined into one image. In this format they are "pre-mounted" with the stereo window set etc. Some are cross eyed, and some are paralell, but the center of the composite is always the divider between right and left.
It would be great if I could display these using your app on the iphone. (you could just split the stereo image into two parts that would work with your app as is). I usually create the images with a program called StereoPhoto Maker (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/) or Cosima (http://www.herbig-3d.de/cosima/) The format is very "standard" for most stereographers.
Thanks,
Ken

Hello Ken, Thank you for suggestion.
StereoMaker is not suitable for viewing pre-mounted stereo image. Then, I will plan to make a Viewer application for pre-mounted images made by StereoPhoto Maker or Cosima.
But I don't have good sample image for testing. Would you mind send me some sample stereo images?
Thank you,
Masaru Hashimoto

A fun app. I'm still experimenting with it. Is it possible for you to be able to allow individual image resizing? Also, perhaps a bit of a tutorial on how to take pictures for your app would help. Thanks!

Wonderful app! I have been an avid stereo fan for sometime. But it is very hard to print or have a modern viewer that will work with standard digital cameras. I have a paper childrens stereo viewer, that I can slip the whole iPhone into, that allows me to view the pictures on the iPhone in all their glory. You have really made a great application. For those who do not really know how to make 3d images, it would be helpful if you gave a tutorial on just how to take a stereo pair with the iPhone. Thanks for a great app!

Hello, Sheldon.
Thank you for your comment. StereoMaker is not able to resize individual image. Only resizing both images at same time.
Hello, Robert.
Thank you for your suggestion. Paper viewer is a good idea!
I plan to make a tutorial pages or how to pages, please allow me sufficient time to make pages.

can't save photo! tap on the stereo screen many times, still fail
Posted by: bchk | 10/30/2008 at 23:56
Hello bchk
I think it's a memory problem, please restart iPhone and try again.
Or please quit other 'Mail, Safari...' applications completely. Try pressing and holding the Home button for at least 6 seconds to close a application.
And if you set a higher image quality, please set image quality to 1x.

Hi, thanks so much for making this app. I was thinking of making one myself, but I'm glad you beat me to it! Plus I love your other stereo apps, you are the expert..!
I am hoping that the iPhone SDK will open up such that you can take pictures with greater control. Primarily: being able to set the same exposure between shots, and using a ghost image of 1st shot as overlay to help align the 2nd shot..
Have you thought about incorporating those features, when possible?
Thanks again!

I made a simple viewer / holder out of cardboard. You slide the iPhone / iPod into it, and it makes viewing without lenses much easier.
see the instructable:

Hello wunderbar
Thank you for your comment.
I think iPhone2.1 SDK do not allow more controls on camera API. But If SDK update and I can use more contorls, I think about your features.
And... It's fun! simple viewer ! I will make it.

I just downloaded your app. The concept is great, but it is not working. I load two images, and it does not matter if I rotate it to the left or the right, the stereo is always parallel. Is there any solution for this?
Posted by: Paty | 03/29/2010 at 03:49
Hello Paty
Thanks for your message.
I tested my iPhone today, StereoMaker generates cross-eyed image.
I think your rotation is too fast for changes views.
Please test these steps,
load two images
rotate clockwise for cross-eyed view
rotate counterclockwise for return to edit screen
rotate counterclockwise for parallel view
